Carnival Cupcakes

I did a joint birthday party for my sons with a carnival theme.  They each had their own cakes - Star Wars for my soon to be 6 year old...
...and Wow Wow Wubbzy for my two year. (He had a hard time keeping his fingers out of the icing on his cake- notice the smudged green polka dot...) :)
I wanted to make something to go with the carnival theme of the party, so I made these 'popcorn' cupcakes.  They turned out very cute and I had many people actually mistake them for real popcorn!

Third birthday cake for a friend's little boy.  The party had a barnyard theme and the birthday boy loves green tractors, so his mom found one and asked for it to be incorporated on the cake.  The cake is chocolate with caramel filling.  The barn is made of cake covered in fondant. The animals and feed bag are gumpaste.  The fence posts are fondant.

Monkey Cake

This was my son's first birthday cake. We went with a monkey theme. The large cake is a 6" and 8" "tuxedo cake" (alternate layers of chocolate fudge cake and white cake) with white chocolate truffle filling. This was the first time I had made this recipe and it was wonderful. The cakes are covered in fondant with fondant polka dots. The monkeys and name are gumpaste. The smash cake was copied from his napkin.

Las Vegas/Viper Cake

A very nice man that works for my husband requested a cake for his wife's birthday. They used to go on trips to Las Vegas in their Viper and it was always a fond memory for them. That's about all the direction he gave me, so here's what I came up with:

The dice, poker chips and Vegas sign are all gumpaste. I bought the cars at Wal-Mart (I wasn't about to try to make a Viper!)
This was a fun one!
