Since I have received requests for so many cakes, I decided to start this blog to showcase some of my past cakes, list prices, etc. I often am asked "How did you get into doing cakes?" Well....
My husband, Brian, is a smart guy. He has built his very successful business from the ground up and I really admire him. He has a way of figuring things out and working with something until he gets it right. He often uses the statement "How hard could it be?" To tell you the truth, he has just rubbed off on me. At the first of the year, I was planning my son's 4th birthday. I decided to go with a cowboy theme and for some reason, I became totally immersed in cakes. After researching and looking at many different designs, I found what I wanted and decided that I should just make it myself. I actually said aloud "How hard could it be?"
*Smile*
I baked the cakes, made the fondant and the day before the party, I assembled, covered and decorated his cake, with no previous practice, just hoping it would work. It turned out really great! After his party, a few people had seen the cake and commented on how cute it was. I had one of my mother-in-law's friends contact me and ask if I would consider making her a cake for her daughter's graduation party and I also made the cake for my sister-in-laws baby shower that same weekend. My side business took off from there.
All of that to say, please keep in mind that I have only been at this since June. I have never taken a class - I am totally self-taught. Of course, I want your cake to be everything that you imagine, but bear in mind that I am still learning. I do enjoy making cakes and having a small part in a special celebration. Please let me know how I can make your cake a really awesome centerpiece for your special day!
